Rafael, who everyone calls Kiko, started sailing at Optimist when he was 9 years old, so he has more than 20 years of experience. In his years as an elite sailor, he participated in several World, South American, North American, and Olympic circuit games achieving among his best results 3rd in the team world championship, 2 South American podiums, 5th in the North American, and gold medal in the Bolivarian Games. His best results were in the Optimist and Lightning classes and since 2016 he has been sailing uninterruptedly on ocean-going sailboats, obtaining outstanding results in national and international championships, especially in recent years as he has been part of the permanent team that sails on a Swan45 as a trimmer higher.
